Traditional Ukrainian Folk Cross Stitch Sampler Pattern
In designing this piece, I wanted to create a sampler for the Ukrainian alphabet that also guides the viewer (and stitcher!) in the symbolic embroidery alphabet of traditional Ukrainian embroidery (i.e. the little red designs under each letter). The flora and fauna accents come from every region of Ukraine…and some of my imagination, of course. See if you can find «Слава Україні!» hidden in the border!
